What Is National Transit Driver Appreciation Day?
Did you know that on March 18th, 1662, the ‘Carrosses à cinq sols’ was the first form of public transportation? This historical event has been deemed the perfect day to celebrate Transit Drivers worldwide and is held every year on March 18th.
The National Transit Appreciation Day started in 2009 when a blog discussing Bus Driver Appreciation Day gained traction. The celebration caught on and later evolved to include rail operators. Because it no longer just included bus drivers, the name of the day was changed to Transit Driver Appreciation Day in 2013, which is now celebrated every March 18th.
How Can You Appreciate Your Transit Drivers?
- Thank your transit driver. To show your appreciation say thank you to your driver. The simplest acts can go a long way.
- Create awareness. National Transit Driver Appreciation Day may not be known by everyone. Don’t be afraid to take photos with your transit drivers and share them on social media with the hashtag #NationalTransitDriverAppreciationDay. This will help raise awareness and allow even more people to celebrate their transit drivers.
- Invest in technology that benefits your drivers.
Why National Transit Driver Appreciation Day is Important
Expressing your appreciation to your drivers offers encouragement and support. Transit drivers dedicate their lives to making sure that we all make it to our destinations on time. Transit Drivers are rarely shown gratitude, so when March 18th comes around make sure you let transit drivers know how much you appreciate their hard work.
How CallPass Supports Transit Drivers Every Day!
CallPass proudly plays a key impact in the lives of many transit drivers across the country every day with our fleet dash camera solution, LANA Fleet. This robust solution not only helps fleet managers in many ways but also helps their drivers as well! Never again do drivers have to have their livelihood impacted by false claims, staged accidents, and more. With the average annual accident rate for commercial fleets being around 20%, these drivers are at a large risk of the other party involved falsely accusing them of being responsible more often than one would thing
With a LANA Dashcam equipped on each of their vehicles, the drivers can be confident when they are out on the road, the dual-facing AI-dash camera paints a clear picture of what happened while they are on the road. Allowing them to quickly provide video of reference to their manager and police on the scene exonerating them of any wrongdoings.
Â
Another benefit to transit drivers they have come to enjoy is a full breakdown of every trip they take as part of a detailed trip summary that is reported through the platform as part of its included GPS component, at no additional costs, a full report of a drivers whereabouts and total time a location is recorded for both drivers and managers to analyze. Drivers love this as they never are left having to prove they are in the right location and they can use it as a measuring stick on previous days to become more productive throughout the day.
So, with that being said! Thank your local transit drivers, there are one the many industries that (literally) keep our communities on a daily basis and the role they play in our communities cannot be undervalued.
