National Transportation Week might be something you’ve never heard of before, even if you or a loved one works in the transportation industry. However, president after president has signed a proclamation that recognizes the important role the transportation industry has played in building our great country. This event takes place throughout the week of May 16th-22nd and we want to share some information about it as well as what CallPass is doing to support the efforts.
What Is It?
Since 1957, the third Friday of May every year is National Defense Transportation Day, signed into place by President Eisenhower, this event was aimed to give recognition to the transportation system of the United States. In 1962, Congress added the week that includes this day as National Transportation Week. In 2021, it’s the week of May 16th through 22nd and includes Friday the 21st as the specially designated day of observance.
Why Is It Important?
This event was begun as a way for Americans to recognize all that the transportation industry does and learn more about how they contribute to our communities. This also includes raising awareness for our nation’s infrastructure and facilities, as they are vitally important to a successful transportation system. Having well-paved and clean roads with access for large semi-trucks to rural areas is a major consideration for ensuring all Americans can be taken care of by the cargo these trucks transport.
How Do People Celebrate?
Throughout the country, people will help to celebrate with appropriate ceremonies and activities. You may find educational expos about the transportation industry, poster contests in your child’s school, or programs in town with industry-leading guest speakers. This year, many of these events may be happening online so be sure to check for your local resources and encourage your friends and family to participate.
How Does CallPass Help?
In 2020, the entire world was hit with Coronavirus, and National Transportation Week took on a whole new meaning. A year later, the pandemic is closer to an end but it’s still not over with. It’s important that we continue to recognize and celebrate those who risk their health every day. They enable us to keep food on grocery store shelves and bring medical equipment to healthcare workers so they can protect themselves and treat patients. Without this vital industry, the pandemic would have been much more difficult to handle.
CallPass honors these teams and individuals every day. Our first-class asset tracking platform LANA Asset and cutting-edge trackers help operations managers keep an eye on their fleet so they know where each vehicle is and when it will arrive at its destination. They can then inform other teams about the expected arrival, so resources are available to encourage a quick delivery. The ability to manage each trailer in your fleet with first-class mapping capabilities is huge for those in the transportation industry when it comes to managing an ample amount of assets at once.
Industry-leading solutions also provide real-time information allowing for management to make prompt decisions that have a positive impact on their overall bottom-line. CallPass prides itself on the ability to deliver game-changing technology that also includes asset tracking sensors that allow drivers/management to be aware of cargo temperature, tire pressure, lights, brakes, and more, to ensure those in the transportation industry are traveling safely at all times.
All this data is available from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection. Keeping everyone connected is the key to a successful partnership between transportation and the community.
